The South Australian German Association is excited to announce plans for a new reinvigorated Schützenfest in 2015. Set to be staged in Rymill Park over 2 days on Friday 30 & Saturday 31 January, the 2015 Schützenfest will have a new location, new atmosphere & new image.
Adelaide’s famous German shooting festival & celebration of German culture is returning to its origins by bringing a ‘Traditional Vintage German Town Fair’ feel back to the event with a few creative modern twists.
The 2015 Schützenfest will be an event full of family fun during the day that turns into a party at night and will include more theatrical & interactive entertainment and a full program of children’s activities.
Past festivals have seen the attendance of over 25,000 people and the South Australian German Association hopes to welcome back previous guests as well as entice new attendees and introduce German culture to a whole new generation.
The Marktplatz or “Market Place” is the central location to be for all your authentic German food and beverage. Proudly sponsored by Barossa Fine Foods, Australia’s Most Awarded Smallgoods Maker, only the finest and best German delights will be available to tantalize your tastebuds. With lots of shady and cool areas to sit, and prime viewing location of the Coopers Marquee with non-stop entertainment throughout both days and night it is sure to a popular spot so get in early!
The Coopers Marquee will host the best traditional entertainment over both days including the Tanunda Town Band, The Adelaide German Band, The Elite Accordion Group, The Hahndorf Town Band as well as Bavarian Dancers and Bell Ringers; Bund der Bayern and the Alpen Echo Bell Ringers and the Deutscher Volkstanzkreis (German folk dancers).
Coopers Beer Garden
In true German style, we'll be serving our famous brews in the Coopers Beer Garden. Grab a chair under the shady trees and listen to the smooth sounds of Joel Havea and DJ TCE.
Family Zone and Entertainment Stage
Also for the first time will be a dedicated family friendly zone. Between 12 noon and 4.00pm on Saturday we welcome Splodge; Crafty fun for kids to keep the kids entertained. The Amazing Drumming Monkeys will also hit the stage on Saturday followed by the legendary Peter Combe.
This is what Shutzenfest is all about, the shooting! We will be searching high and low to crown the King and Queen of the shoot for 2015... How many bullseyes can you score? Every shooter gets a prize and the winners will be honoured in their own parade.
