Woodford Folk Festival

Woodford Folk Festival

One of Australia’s most iconic annual events, the Woodford Folk Festival, is back for its 28th year with their most ambitious program ever. Browse the full programme book here.

This ‘festival of festivals’ will feature over 500 acts in 28 venues with 1235 shows across six spectacular days and nights, from 27 December to 1 January!

Offering the unique and rare combinations of entertainment and delight… no other festival can connect you with Celtic dance rock, cabaret pop, salacious debates, reggae soul to make you dance up a fight, blistering indie folk chart toppers, the call of an English acoustic folk goddess, learning the Woodfordian Waltz, discovering Australia’s most famous unknown band (a second musical home for the holder of the world’s highest selling single title), Monster Parades, witnessing the finest expressions of Indigenous traditional and contemporary music and movement, giraffes on stilts, grooving to 70’s flavoured Bollywood surf funk, haunting slide guitar wizards, a grandmother of comedy, a nourishing collection of intellects; sharing their experiences and wisdom,  circus and vaudeville flare and an organ salesman.  And that is only day one!

Music program highlights include:

Beth Orton (ENG), The Basics, Clare Bowditch, Matt Corby, Tim Finn (NZ), Half Moon Run (CAN), Julian Marley (JAM/ENG), Busby Marou, Buffalo Tales, Chance Waters, Thelma Plum, Shelley Morris, Blue King Brown, Brendan Maclean, GANGgajang, Jordie Lane, Rose Cousins (CAN), Babylon Circus (FRA), Breabach (SCOT), Rachel Sermanni (SCOT), The Twoks!

You’ll experience concerts, dances, street theatre, writers’ panels, film festival, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, social dialogue and debate, folk medicine, an entire children’s festival, an environmental program featuring talks, debates and films, art and craft workshops, circus performances and workshops, late night cabarets, parades and special events including a spectacular fire event.

In the festival village you can find 36 performance venues, streets are lined with restaurants, cafes, stalls, bars, street theatre and parades. Tree-filled campgrounds, butterfly walks, ponds and wildlife complete the picturesque site.

The festival welcomes folks from all walks of life, from all over the globe each year. Powered by an army of over 2000 volunteers, it’s a festival for the folkies, by the folkies.

Escape from ‘reality’ and immerse yourself in cultures from near and far. It is a place where artists inspire, community spirit engulfs and life memories are made. We hope you will join us.

Make sure you check out the iconic Coopers Beer Garden, at Woodfordia for the first time this year, offering festival goers the chance to enjoy some ice cold Coopers beers.
