Sparkling Ale Wins Trophy for Coopers

Coopers Sparkling Ale, which has been in production since the 1860s, was awarded the Beer & Brewer Magazine Trophy for the Best Australian Style Pale Ale at the Australian International Beer Awards in Melbourne last week.

Sparkling Ale also won a gold medal in the draught beer section and a silver medal for packaging.

Coopers’ Chief Brewer, Dr Tim Cooper, said Sparkling Ale had been one of the earliest beers produced by Coopers founder, Thomas Cooper, and had been in almost continuous production since.

“It has attracted and maintained a loyal following throughout its history and remains one of our best-selling lines,” he said.

“In many ways it defines what Australian style ales are all about.”

Coopers finished the night with one trophy, one gold medal, one silver medal and three bronze medals for Carlsberg, Dark Ale and Vintage Age.

The Australian International Beer Awards attracted 1490 entries from 277 exhibitors, with more than half of them from overseas.
