Thatchers Cider to be Available At Clipsal

Thatchers Gold, the UK’s second largest selling draught cider, will be available on tap at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide this week.

Coopers’ Chairman, Mr Glenn Cooper, said Thatchers Gold would be sold as part of Coopers’ on-going agreement with V8 Supercar racing in Australia.

“Coopers signed a contract to keg and distribute draught Thatchers Gold in Australia late last year,” he said.

“Under the terms of the agreement, bulk shipments of cider are sent to Coopers’ Regency Park brewery from Thatchers’ headquarters at Somerset in the UK. The cider is then kegged for distribution to hotels, clubs and bars.”

Mr Cooper said the first shipments had already been received and distributed, attracting strong initial support.

“We think having Thatchers Gold available at Clipsal will turbo-charge awareness of the product,” he said.

“Thatchers Gold is an internationally renowned premium cider and having it available around the course as well as in corporate facilities means many people who may never have tried a true English cider will get that opportunity.”

He said Coopers would also be expanding its popular 1862 beer garden at Clipsal this year.

The garden, which is open to the public, will offer Coopers’ International beers – Carlsberg, Sapporo and Kronenbourg 1664 as well as Coopers’ beers and Thatchers Gold.

Last year, the Clipsal 500 attracted a crowd of 286,500 over the four days of racing,

Mr Cooper said it was likely Thatchers Gold would be available at all V8 Supercar street circuit events in Australia during 2014, as well as in Darwin.

Under the terms of the contract with Thatchers, Coopers’ distribution company Premium Beverages, is also distributing bottled Thatchers Gold across Australia.

Thatchers is a fourth generation family business that has been growing rapidly in the past 20 years.
